Most school psychologists have "professional degrees," which are masters degrees. They almost always have an internship as well. The American Psychological Association accredits these programs and internships. Many school psychologists have a teaching certification and many go on to get wither an Ed.D. or Ph.D. Most find employment in public schools, colleges, or in private consulting.
A psychology major will prepare you for graduate work in school psychology. A minor is not necessary but may be helpful, particularly a minor in a foreign language.
